EXPORT UNIVERSITY

As part of its efforts to educate private businesses on aspects of exporting and other international business, the Export Council of Oregon sponsors seminars for private companies and governmental and nongovernmental organizations around the state of Oregon and in southwest Washington. These seminars fall into two program types: Export 101 and Export 201. Each program is explained below.

EXPORT 101

ECO’s introductory-level seminar is Export 101. Entitled “Export Strategies, Tools & Techniques,” this seminar focuses on basic export matters and is presented on a periodic basis at various locations throughout the region. Sponsored in conjunction with Portland’s US Export Assistance Center, the seminar typically includes classes on:

• preparation for international expansion

• identifying and selecting international markets and partners

• pricing and payment options

• transportation and shipping issues

• export control compliance

EXPORT 201


ECO also offers a more advanced set of classes for exporters looking for in-depth information and expertise. Offered on a “cafeteria menu” basis, ECO offers the following classes to any individuals or companies that are interested. Each class is designed for a 90-minute time block, including time for questions and discussion.

All classes are taught by ECO members or other qualified specialists selected by ECO. Classes can be scheduled at the company’s convenience and at the company’s office. ECO charges a fee of $200 per 90-minute class to cover the costs of this program.
